For the most current information, please go to http://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/et/ft/east.asp
.
Program Overview: A competitive grant for sites serving students in 9th-12th grades.
The Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST) model is a dynamic, performance-based learning environment for students in grades 9-12 utilizing project-based service learning, integrated with advanced technological applications. EAST has drawn national attention as a catalyst in promoting collaboration among education, business and community while focusing on meeting the needs of students as they confront the challenges of a complex, every-changing world. The setting for this model is an interdisciplinary laboratory environment where the intellectual and problem-solving growth of students, rather than the technology, is the focus.

Digital High School Program
The Digital High School (DHS) Program provided assistance to schools serving students in grades 9-12 so that these schools could install and support technology, and train staff to use technology to improve student learning. Two of the most important outcomes of the Digital High School Program were: to connect every classroom to the Internet and (2) integrate technology into the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
The DHS Program has been completed. Individual schools needing to file budget revisions or Certification of Completion should visit the DHS Web site.
